two weeks ago (NOW ITS BEEN OVER A MONTH)all of a sudden my local channels disappeared.
all my hd and cable channels were working properly...but i couldnt get any local fox broadcast(or any other).
i call support and they give me the typical "reset the box" jargon.
no dice, they send a tech out two days later.
he cannot figure out the problem, changes and splitter and says some heehaw bullshit.
this is on both boxes.one non hd,one hd, he called advance tech.he had no fvcking clue.
and they send me out new boxes.
wtf
i still dont have my locals, as much as i hated adelphia rates/signal quality never once did a tech leave without the problem being resolved..
this all wouldnt be a big deal, and to be honest i wouldnt notice but for the local news weather forecast and FOX's almost total playoffs monopoly.

Edit: Playoffs are over, Directv lied to me about stopping by.Still no local channels, saw the clown up the road earlier, bypassed my house completely.fvck YOU directv.

If you are considering ordering directv service....DONT!

im serious fed up at this point.

Sounds like they need to reset the programming on your account.

Does it still show that you are subscribed to local channels on your account at DirecTV.com?

I'd call back and immediately ask to speak to a manager. Take it up as high as you can and milk it for all its worth. Get your money back, get free programming, get new free equipment, whatever.

They screwed you over pretty good and it's been my experience that they have no problems giving you freebies when they make mistakes once you complain high up enough.

i have a PILE of recievers that directv promised theyd pickup at my house when the tech came to resolve the problem.
2 missed appointments by directv..missed completely, i was lied to by the subcontractors time and again!
ive spent no less than 20 hours of my life either on the phone, waiting for tech, complaining about the issue and trouble shooting in less than 5 months of service.

i used to think verizon and adelphia had semi-crummy support/help.... boy i didnt know what bad was..

you know when you see those cable ads slamming dish services? i used to think it was simply propaganda...but its really amazing how applicable those commercials to my situation.
i could be that idiot on the commercial...i AM that idiot.

That's weird that you've been treated that way. It actually sounds like my experience with Comcast (the 20 hours on the phone). My time with DirecTV has actually been pretty good. They screwed up my College Gameday PPV order one day and credited the money back no problem even though it would have been very difficult for me to prove that I didn't get the programming that I had ordered. I've also gotten a free HD Tivo out of them.

Don't know what to say dude.

I'd have to agree with Boomer though...try the retention number.

edit: Here's the number - 1-800-824-9081

Verizon actually sells DirectTV packages around here. We're waiting for the fios/tv package to become available, so we can switch over from Time Warner.
