DirecTV and HD Channels

How does the new HD content compare to DishNetwork? When I went with DN last year, they had the most HD content.

Check Adul's post (3rd from the top) on the first page. That is just the start for DirecTV as they are promising 100 HD channels by the end of the year and 150 next year. They're also promising HD VOD starting at the end of the year.

More than likely, many of the HD channels on this list will end up on DiSH as well. The History Channel HD was just turned on for DiSH last week or the week before, for example. I believe DiSH is also going to go the HD PPV route? DiSH will have about 15 channels that DirecTV won't get because they acquired those channels from VOOM.

There's also a cost difference. DirecTV - $9.99/month. DiSH - $19.99/month.

Dish already has HD PPV. I was just wondering if there's a list that shows the HD offerings of the two side by side.
 
Glad they're finally coming out with these new HD channels they've been talking about so long. Coming on the 19th?

I'd like to see comedy central in HD...they're way too cheap though. The comedy central broadcast is so compressed/crappy looking on DirecTV
 
How much do you have to pay for this though?

I have Comcast's STANDARD package for what.. $40 / month or whatever it is.. 45? I can't believe they charge EXTRA for you to get HD channels... like I feel it's fair to not charge and deliver HD content for channels you ALREADY HAVE.

For example, NBC, CBS, ABC etc are all delivered through QAM already. I like that. Why can't Comcast do the same with the rest of the channels? The reason why I'm not buying their idiotic digital package is you have to get the fvcking box. Screw the box. QAM FTW.
 
I just dropped Comcast for DirecTV. Comcast in my area was terrible and DirecTV had better prices anyways. I don;t have an HDTV yet but I hope more channels are released by the time I get one which should be somewhere between 6 months to a year from now.

I want cartoon network in HD. Not that it matters much because it is animation, but I would love me some sweet HD robot chicken 😀

Yep. Also need the H20 or HR20 receivers with a B-Band Converter.

You should be able to call DirecTV and get these for free.
