Damn that looks great! Sad to see this day come just a month after I moved out of my old apartment, where I was using DirecTV for the past 7 years.

It's phased. I saw a listing somewhere a few weeks ago, maybe on dbstalk?

Anyway, it's definitely a little snappier though there is still some lag. I'm not going to complain too much thought as it is definitely much better than before.

To be honest I couldn't care about the "flash". I just want it to function. When I hit page down it should page down pretty much immediately and not 5 seconds later. The new one does this most of the time.

My family has it now. Took 3 software updates over two days and for 3 or 4 days after it was SUPER slow...almost unusable. It did finally get faster, except for the dvr portion. That remains almost unusable it's so slow. From the time you hit 'List' to the moment the screen comes up is probably 50-70 seconds, during which time you can't do anything. Changing screens from the List screen takes 30-50 seconds each time.

The Ribbon is easier to read than the old one, but the full guide is harder to read imo.

The Menu system is pretty awful now though. Not a single improvement and a lot worse (increased number of clicks to get anywhere, etc).

Actually, now that I think about it, this is exactly the same place where mine continues to be slow. It's even more noticeable now since the rest of the UI works so much faster.

Finally, the blue dies. The black background looks nice.

Is there any way to reverse the order of the guide?
Channel Up out of the guide ascends. Channel Up in the guide descends.
That's annoying.

Which receiver do you have? That's unusually long even by DTV standards. My HR22 has never taken more than a 3-4 seconds on *any* action, and the HR24 is rarely more than 1-2 seconds.

My receivers got the update this morning sometime... I'll play with it when I get home from work.

R22-100.

It was pretty snappy before the update. Just a few seconds for a transition. It has something to do with the update.

I just used a stopwatch to time it 3 times (from a channel, hit 'List', till screen was up and usable):

Those are definitely WAY faster than it was a couple days ago, but still obviously excessive.

Have you tried forcing a software update?

Unplug for thirty seconds, then plug it back in.

If that fails, clear the nvram. Go to channel 1. Once it has fully loaded, push Red, Red, Blue, Blue, Yellow, Green. You should see a message about nvram being cleared.

Both of our HD receivers got the update just after Thanksgiving. Faster on the regular HD receiver, but the HD-DVR showed the most improvement. Fortunately, the didn't screw with anything to make it worse.
