On trying to set up voice recognition on win xp, within the sound audio devices properties I hit the voice tab and then the test hardware tab under voice recognition and get this message " An error occurred during directplay voice setup. The error code is 0x80004005." When I click ok I get another message "Windows cannot execute dpvsetup.exe, use add remove programs control panel to install.
My mic is not working even though its jacked into the right plug on the back of my sb live card.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for the article, but still no progress. The article states: "This problem occurs because when you change the Audio Hardware Acceleration setting to None this removes the hardware-accelerated device from the list of possible devices. However, DSound continues to try and map to the device".
I have not changed or adjusted any hardware acceleration settings. It is set to the maximum (all the way to the right). Even though this article describes the problem I'm having none of the suggestions work in my situation.
Thanks anyways.

What version of DirectX do you have installed?

Did you run DXDIAG and see if the Component is listed?
