HOOKSETT, N.H. (CBS) – A game of Monopoly ended with a young woman under arrest in New Hampshire.
Hooksett police say they were called to a home on Post Road late Sunday night for a report of a domestic disturbance.
Alyssa Ferraro, 21, told officers “she got into an argument with her boyfriend over a game of Monopoly and open hand slapped him in the face,” according to a police statement.
The boyfriend was not seriously hurt.
But Ferraro was arrested and charged with domestic violence related simple assault.
She was released on $2,000 bail and ordered to appear in court on December 31.

I've not talked to people for a while after playing monopoly... but to get physical because of it... thats a new level of awesome.

,.. oof,...

and they arrested her for that?

Well considering that staying in jail for as long as possible is the best way to win at end game monopoly, I think we're seeing one of the most competitive monopoly players ever.

There is no chance she will ever land on her opponents property if she is actually in jail.

How can you win? The rules clearly state that if you're in jail, you cannot collect rent.

Yes, it was assault.

Battery.

Assault is when you threaten someone and they feel scared.

And for those who've never had a relationship in their entire lives: This was not about monopoly. This was about something else entirely and the monopoly game set it off.
She was probably feeling neglected or slighted in some way.

Called the cops over a slap?

This is my thought. I was slapped by a female friend this past weekend and would never contemplate calling the police over something like this.

Now if this is something that happens regularly, characterized as domestic abuse, then maybe this was the straw, but it doesn't really sound like it.

or drunk

If she had a thimble of sense she would have grabbed her hat, put her iron on her hip, thrown her dog in the car, given them the old soft shoe, and shipped out of there.

If they can move past this it will be a great anecdote to tell at parties, especially when someone wants to play a board game. The boyfriend needs to have that mugshot on his phone as a proof, because who would believe it. Of course she would eventually kill him, but you can get a lot of mileage out of a story like that.
