Directions sought - TFT/LCD

Anybody steer me toward TFT/LCD monitor maybe 18"? Gaming ability is a consideration. Would like to start developing some options thanks.

I personally use the Dell 1800fp at work and its a fine monitor with crystal clear pictures that I can stare at for hours while typing up essays without getting eyestrain. Other than that, I've heard great things about monitors from Hitachi, Planar, and Samsung, but I'm pretty sure the other members of this board can give you plenty of first hand knowledge on it.
