Direction of heatsink Fan

Hey sorry for the simple question but does the fan on the heatsink of a Cpu blow air on the heatsink or blow air away from it? If there are arrows on the fan which way should they point?

most blow downward towards the hs. this pushes more air across the hs, and also the freshest. (air on the mobo is hotter than away from it, especially with a side intake)

most heatsinks have the fan blow toward the heatsink. Its all upto the way your airflow and case is designed. I've had some that did better when you sucked air from the heatsink. You just have to try it adn see which does better

I disagree..the Aplpha HS of the past recommeded fans be setup to pull air of the HS...my setup with XP90 works better if I pull air not blow air on to the HS...case temps are better, cpu temps are 1C higher/same....

Bottom line really makes little overall difference..try it both ways and see what you like better...BTW noise can be better sometime with pulling not blowing seems in some you can get turbulence and noise

All the stock coolers I have ever seen all pull air away from the heatsink/cpu...

Every after market I run into has suggested the same.

All the retail CPUs HS + fan blow air onto the HS. Alot of dells and other computer companies have their own system of cooling which has the fan pulling air out. Just play with your fans and monitor temps. There are so many variables that we cant just come right out and tell you what will give you the best temps.
