DirectDraw error when loading game

Everytime i try to load up Diablo 2 I get a critical error that says Error 22: An error has occured while initiallizing DirectDraw. Anyone know how to fix it? It only does it with diablo, everything else seems to work fine. Im not even sure what directdraw is let alone how to fix it.

This is not General Hardware related.

try start-run-dxdiag and make sure direct draw is enabled.
