direct x frustration

so im running sp2 catalyst 4.9s w a 9600pro and dx9.0c, i install and go to play the sims 2 and it says it doesnt detect a dx9.0c compatible video card, so i reinstall the drivers n everything.. reinstall the sims, TRY to reinstall dx but when i click next it immeciately says its installed... so i uninstalled dx w dx erradicator which brought it down to 8.1 and when i try to run both the dx9 web install and the other 40mb or whatever one, it does the same thing.. clikcs right to that its installed... despite dx8.1 being installed.... so can anyone help me? i cant get back to 9.0c.

There is no supported way to do it. Basically, reformat your computer. You used a 3rd party tool that didn't work right. Windows XP especially hates having DX9 removed; they try to make it impossible to do.

Reformat/reinstall.

yeah i reformatted... it installs 9.0c so i cant update or anything... so i guess ill jsut wait til 9.1 or wahtever, not gonna bother installing thesims again til someone figures out a way to fix that..;
