well I had Direct Tv dsl for about 1.5yrs before they kicked the bucket. I canceled about 1 week before contract was over ( i told them to close my account on the last day). well apparently they kept charging me till they canceled which was bad. Anyways I got constantly billed for 10+ months for about 35-40 dollars after numerous disputes with discover i finally changed my credit card #. well apparently when they couldn't charge it, they called me up and got a collection agency after me. Then they called me again and said they will will fix my problem with the bill and the collection agency. I assumed they did, but after i got this letter, they are pissing me off, they want 3 cents for christ sakes. anyways enough ranting, I am going to pay it hehe.

Send them a check for $0.04 and make them cut you a check for $0.01 and send it back. Now that would be funny.

Send it to them in the most bizarre, least sought after currentcy available. Maybe some Zimbabwe change or something

That's just fvcking stupid. I would copy it and send it to their CEO and counsel. Pay it with a check for .04 like someone said, or charge it on a card and dispute it.

I suggest merely taping 3 pennies to the bill and paying it. Adds a little visual ridicule as well as forces the processor to figure out what the fvck to do with them.

I say this bill deserves to be sent to major news agencies. They LOST money by trying to collect. Fvcking idiots.

The same thing happened with a long distance carrier we had awhile back. We owed them 1 cent and they kept calling and mailing us asking us to pay up. They must have sent at least half a dozen letters and we called up their CSR to explain the situation to them. Funny thing was that they said the problem would be resolved everytime we called but the letters kept coming.

Ha ha ha ha ha. The same thing happened to me in a sense except I had DSL through them when it was Telocity DSL and then DirectTV DSL. Well somewhere along the way I had pre-paid a couple of months in advance and when I canceled I had a $100 credit on my account. I figured after a few months they would just send me a check back (much like a normal credit card company would), but alas I just kept getting statements saying I had a $100 credit. After about 6 months I finally called their now defunct cust service and managed to get ahold of someone who said my acct didn't exist nor did my acct number exist. I faxed a copy of my statement to them, and within a few days I got a call back saying they finally found my acct and would be cutting me a check within a few weeks.

What a horribly mis-managed company they were. Unbelievable.

LOL. Yeah, tell them you couldn't "break" a nickel and you'll need your two cents sent in the form of a check as soon as possible. :p If not received in a timely manner you can harrass them much as they do you for your collection!

That's what I did! :D When I cancelled my PrimeCo cellphone account way back in the day, I got a bill months later that for some reason still had a 2 cent balance. I taped a nickel to the reply form and wrote "keep the change" on it, but they still sent back a check for 3 cents!

I was with PhoniexDSL when Telocity bought them out, I had a Rythms Line. Rythms of course went out of business so DirectTVDSL canceled my line. They then proceeded to bill me for 2 months straight till I canceled the credit card, they then billed for another 3 months and sent me to collections for $147. That negative is still sitting on my credit report and if I ever get bored I will file protests with the credit agencies. After 3 phone calls explaining that THEY canceled my DSL and that they couldn't even provide service in my state and I already had another DSL line they still insisted I had an account and owed them money.

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me... except it was with AT&T. They charged me (my wife paid the bills) for long distance for almost a year; yet I didn't have AT&T long distance at the time. I'm *STILL* waiting for my refund from them, yet they have me in collections for 3 cents. (my wife was a couple of days late on the last $5.95 payment - for service we didn't have - and they charged interest on it). Can I go to a collection agency to have them collect from AT&T??
