Ok guys here is my Problem

I have Direct TV installed in my apartment. I just bought a HDTV and I dont want to hire someone to go up and install a new DISH on my Four Story Apartment which I so happen to be at the bottom of. Well I want to buy a HDTV reciever and i need to know will I be able to watch HDTV Programming with the ONE LNB???

Can someone give me the heads up on how I can overcome this.

You need a HD Satellite to recieve the Directv HD signals and you will need the receiver as well. You will also need an off-air antenna to pick up local HDTV signals.

You only need a 3 LNB dish if you want to get showtime. It'd be a wise investment for the future though to just go ahead and get it. HBO, HNET and PPV is currently on the 2nd LNB. Showtime is the only one on the 3rd so far. You can add the 3rd LNB at any time from DTV for $49.99 (but i got mine for free with some sweet talking)

You cannot receive ANY HDTV with 1LBN. You HAVE to have the Oval dual LNB dish.

OK well see I think my dish is dual LNB but right now I only have on reciever hooked up. Can I just buy the HD reciever and not have to do anything else. Cause I dont want to have to fool with the dish. Is it possible for me to just hook the HDTV reciever up and go?

The best DirecTV HD receiver is the Samsung SIR-TS160. It beats the Zenith, Sony, and Hughes receivers by a mile.

The GREAT thing about DirecTV HD recievers is that they intergrate ALL channels, DTV, cable and antenna into your program guide.

You'll need an oval 3 LNB dish. There's no way around it. If you already have a 24" oval dish dual LNB, you might be able to simply add another LNB to it.

The new dish will set you back about $120. Installation of a dish only should be under $100. That's not going to break the bank.

The expensive part is the receiver. Luckily the cheapest out now is also the best, the Samsung TS160 runs $599 retail. You should be able to find it cheaper.
