direct TV affiliate program

I got this interesting phone call from a call centre (could tell from the loud background talking) and its basically to sign up to this affiliate program to sell DirectTV satelite systems and I do 100 bucks per sale. They set me up a website and everything and its all super cool and stuff.

Then the catch. I have to pay 100 bucks up front so they set me this stuff up, AND 20 bucks per month, with the first cycle starting right away. There are thousands of these affiliates, so even at first glance I knew I'd maybe only sell the occasional set. To make things worse, they refused to send me more information to my email, or give me a phone number so I can call back if I'm interested as I said I'd need time to think this over.

Sounds like some kind of scam to me. The companies mentioned are legit as far as I know, and are rather big. DirectTV and another (Forget which one).

Just curious if anyone has ever heard of this program and/or been called, or if by chance anyone is actually part of it. I ended up just saying I had to go and hung up as if I need to give my credit card over the phone so I can make money, something sounds fishy. 😛

Hmmm so that particular program is legit, but these people calling me were probably 3rd partys who just charged me to setup that affiliate for me LOL.

Probably.

They keep the $100 setup fee plus the $25 difference per referral.

If you refer 5 people that's an extra $125 they receive instead of you.
