Direct CD and Windoze XP

I have a Philips 804 cdrw drive. It reads ok. It came with DirectCD3 and Easy CD Creator 4 software. I find out that this is non compatable w/ XP :| I go to the Roxio site like XP says and it says that I have to buy version 5 ($79) to become XP compatible.:|:|:disgust: I think this is a big rip. Anyone have any other patches etc to get it to work anyway?

As far as I know, that is the truth. EZ CD Creator (et all) versions prior to 5.0 will not work in XP. Even 5 needs a patch. Just do what "others" have done and look around on eGay for a cheap version 5. Either that or you can find really nice deals on some new CDRW drives in the AT "Hot Deals" forum and many of those will include the newer versions of either EZ CD or Nero (which is even better).
I know that those are not the answers you wanted to hear, but I'm pretty sure you will need 5.0 at least if you want to have any hope of using it with XP.

Buz2b hit the nail on the head.

EZCD v4 and DirectCD3 will simply not work on XP. Only EZCD v5 and above do.

Look around on eBay for v5 or better yet look for Nero. Nero comes with its own DirectCD like program called InCD.

I went through the same problem with CD Creater and Direct CD...... broke down and got Nero. I like Nero better.
