Direct 3D problem

I have a GeForce 4 MX 440 (I know it sucks), and it was running well with the old Nvidia drivers, until I installed Forceware 56.64, when I installed these drivers, the computer stopped running any Direct 3D application, when I run a Direct 3D game, the computer freezes, I tried an Open GL game (KotOR) and the game ran fine. So is there any way to fix this problem? I also tried the Direct X test from the dxdiag window, and the computer freezed again. Now I have to stick to the 53.03 drivers. Anyone had a similar problem?
Do you think it's a hardware problem?

i havent had the same problem but i did have a g4 ti4200 that i sold about 8 months ago that ran like ass on most of the next gen drivers. i suggest just sticking with what works! the newest forceware drivers are geared toward the fx lines, not the g4 and under market. be thankful you can even use any of the 50.00+ series drivers, most people cant even get those to work on a g4 line card at all!
