So will FF now use video memory instead of system memory?

Good question.

This thread caught my eye because I recently upgraded my mom's PC (Athlon Thunderbird 1.4Ghz, 512MB RAM) with a PCI geforce 9400GT, so it would display better with our HDTV and in anticipation for GPU accelerated flash.

The PC is almost exclusively used for watching online videos. I was having trouble with the flash 10.1 beta on firefox (fullscreen videos were like slideshows), but since the CPU is so old, any way that the GPU can be used for internet acceleration is worth investigating.

The 9400GT has 1GB of RAM onboard, so it would be great if it would be possible to take advantage of it (since I know all the extra RAM on these low-end cards is typically useless).

Wow, very cool idea. It'd be great to be offload the CPU and memory use of firefox off to the video card.
