Dippin' Dots has filed for bankruptcy after defaulted on just more than $11,000,000 in loans. The company wants to post cash collateral to the court in lieu of bond to continue operating.

I'm surprised they've lasted this long. Every stand I've seen in the past 5 years has been closed. Their product is inferior to real ice cream in pretty much every way.

I've never tried; there's a vending machine in my local mall, so I better get on the horse.

Otherwise Dippin Dots will always be a mystery to me. Would I have loved them? Would I have hated them? WOuld I not have cared?

You people are nuts. I get these every time I go to hockey games and I love it. Especially the chocolate mint. Mmmmm.

Are you telling me that there is/was a company singly invested in the manufacture and distribution of something called "dippin dots?"

:hmm:

Sad. :(

This company was started by a student of my univ. At least he tried something different.. by starting his own business.

Damn Americans and your oversupply of scrumptious innovative food products... I can't even find a Dairy Queen and I live in the biggest city in Canada.

We can't afford to lose jobs in this economy. The government should bail them out, take over the business, and require DMV centers to give out dippin dots while people wait in line.

Neat product, but cost was absurd. IMO if they cut costs they may have had a lot more buyers and it may have made them more. Not sure what the margins were looking like though.

Use to love DQ Blizzards when I was younger...Vanilla and M&M's was my favorite. Good thing there's an "old school" Dairy Queen Brazier about 4 miles from where I live...I haven't ventured over there yet because I'd be hooked again.

I agree.

It tasted good but it was way to expensive to get for the amount they gave you. Last vending machine of theirs I seen wanted $5 for a little bag. Fuck that.

They need a new damn slogan. They've been the ice cream of the future since the 80's.

They're the ice cream of the past now, which is why they're going bankrupt

It looked like penguin poop and tasted like ice. This is not unexpected news for me.

What the hell is a Dippin' Dot? I Googled them and I don't recall ever seeing anything that looked like that sold anywhere. Flash-frozen ice cream balls? What the hell?
