What the hell is a Dippin' Dot? I Googled them and I don't recall ever seeing anything that looked like that sold anywhere. Flash-frozen ice cream balls? What the hell?

You must be 12 years old or live outside America. They are/were in nearly every mall the last 20 years and gave the majority of their product away as free samples. Ususally the sample was all you ever cared for.

Yeah the ice cream of the future is kind weird, doesn't taste better than normal ice cream, and costs more. Not the best plan guys.

Tried it as a kid. Never really did anything for me. Now if they were the greatest tasting ice cream I've ever had the pleasure of buying then I could see why they may be more expensive. As it is they are just over priced gimmick. Freeze dried ice cream that tastes very bland but looks like penguin poop as someone else more succinctly put it.

I thought it was pretty good but not worth making a special trip. They had a few in Jacksonville. I stopped by the one at the mall while doing something else. Now Cold Stone, thats worth making a trip.

Technically there isn't one in the biggest city in the United States. We didn't have one in LA either when I was growing up.

The cost per serving is a killer with this product no doubt there. But for myself, the real deal breaker is that they are entirely unsatisfying. It is like an ice cream tease; there is this hint of creamy chocolate goodness, but it just never delivers.

I tried this once at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, and was totally unimpressed. There's almost entirely no taste to this stuff until it's significantly melted.
