I think even though im christian that god was created to help people cope with every day problems. It helps kids like us who burn out our pc's cope with the fact that we did something wrong. Come one we've all been there, staring up to the heaven and saying "why God" "Why" "Why the hell did you burn out my cpu"
You're entitled to your own opinion. Just try not to make the mistake of assuming that your opinion is fact, or insist that others should accept (or even give a sh!t) about your opinion.
Oh, and despite numerous attempts to do so, I've never burned up a cpu. Couple of mobos though, damnit, but I don't pray to God when I do that, I just swear quietly and check the latest Frys ad...

I had a biology teacher in high school who would say that dinosaurs and people lived at the same time (it was a christian high school). Every minister, youth pastor, teacher, etc... including most people who seem to make an effort to let other people know what religion they belong to seems to beleive this kinda crap. I'm sure there are a few who don't, but from what I've seen, almost all very active church members do.
All the ones that I've met (including myself) keep their opinions open on the subject.
Because the reality is that we do not know and it does not matter.
Whether the earth is 4 billion or 6 thousand years old has absolutely no effect on my faith or my day-to-day life. Any thinking otherwise (IMO) represents either a lack of faith or vanity or both. Dinosaurs only interest me in the scholastic sense, and even then I keep my opinions open because I am aware of just how corrupt the paleontology industry is.
The only curiousity I have ever really have on this exact topic is the constant presence of dinosaurs (or "dragons") in ancient mythology.

"because I am aware of just how corrupt the paleontology industry is. "

:Q I didn't even know it was an industry.

Will it be as bad as the Enron fiasco when all hell breaks loose ?

LOL... not like that. That was stock price manipulation and books cooking by a single major corporation. None of that here :p

Suffice to say that it is very competitive and grants driven. Grants are based either on past performance or research proving a single pre-decided conclusion. It is common for major finds of a "whole new species" to include only a single small fossil bone (from which they even draw pictures of the entire animal and speculate on detailed theories of its life).

Penn and Teller's Bullsh!t did a show one week and they focused on one school system in, I believe, Alabama that was forced by a bunch of raging fundamentalists to teach Creation *Science* alongside Evolution.

I'm afraid you're right. Some of that stuff is so over-the-top that it can't be real, but reading their FAQ is a little spooky.

the very fact that you can't discern whether or not this site is real, is pretty scary in and of itself.

They are trying to shutdown the known parody site, Landover Baptist.

What Landover Baptist isn't real :) and Billy Crystal wasn't a talking testicle?

Landover Baptist Church member, Mrs. Tawny Huxton, spent the past two years living in a 3-foot wrought-iron cage at the Landover Baptist Hospital for the Mentally Unstable or Otherwise Demon Possessed. She was involuntarily committed after returning early from Bible study and walking in on her son Timmy. He was masturbating like there was no tomorrow while straddling a life-size Jar-Jar Binks doll in their rumpus room. Yesterday, Mrs. Huxton returned to her lovely Christian home fully restored, thanks to the diligent efforts of Creation Scientists at the hospital and five Sears Diehard car batteries they had used as part of her treatment. "I may have trouble with fly-away hair," Mrs. Huxton told friends upon her arrival, "but I am cured of whatever it was that they had me in there for in the first place. And it is nice to be home! Yes, indeedy! This is my home, isn't it? I love that wallpaper!"

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA

That stuff's funnier than about 95% of all of the crap on TV! :D

Whoa... :Q That is just scary.

I refer you all back to amnesiac's post. These extremists are a minority in the Christian community.

If you find an Atheist in your neighborhood,
TELL A PARENT OR PASTOR RIGHT AWAY!

Reading that just resulted in my monitor getting a Pepsi bath. Good times....good times....
