Dinner plan...

I'm planning to sorta make homemade Pizza with just a premade crust. Anyone done this before and is it worth it (taste wise)?

Just got back from the store and decided to go with the Pillsbury Pizza dough.

I am making the same. Picked up a 3-pack of premade crusts and sauce packets from Sam's Club yesterday. Not bad for $5, hopefully they taste decent.

Have you never done it before?

Premade crust? Ugh... well, er.... if you get some quality toppings, you can salvage it. But a truly exceptional pizza comes from the homemade crust!

One thing you can do... is take that premade crust, slice it in all directions, and then brush a garlic/olive oil/cracked pepper mixture over it and let it seep down into the cuts. That will help deflate the "my crust is too thick and dull" reaction that invariably results from using premade crusts.

I've done this. I suggest you cook the crust for a bit before you put anything on it. It will be better and crisper that way.

The toppings, particularly the sauce, is the key to good pizza.

Nope, hence why I said hopefully they taste decent.

yes

we just had a tasty one friday night

take refrigerated crust, roll out into 10x14 rectangle, bake at 425 for 5 minutes

julienne 1 red pepper, and put the red pepper and 1 cup of sliced mushrooms in a pan, saute 5 minutes with 1 tbsp oil, i tsp dry oregano, 1 tsp dry basil and 5 cloves of garlic.

add 1 can artichoke hearts to pan, saute to warm. add some precooked bacon pieces (sold in bags in the bacon section)

cover crust with 1/2 cup mozzarella, cover that with cooked mixture above, then spread another 1 cup of mozzarella. bake 10 more mkinutes at 425.

Homemade crusts make a huge difference, but you can still salvage it. Instead of the sauce packets you should make your own sauce. Take 1 or 2 cans of store-brand tomato paste, add a clove of garlic, some basil and a little salt.

LOL, how is that any superior to the premade sauce?

Just went to the store... We got the Pillsbury Pizza dough. Hopefully it will come out a lot better than the premade stuff.

We're grilling steaks on the BBQ! Ah, it feels good to live in Cali! 😎

Yeah we grilled salmon and steaks yesterday. Florida's been having awesome weather lately.

We make pizza either on French Bread or we buy a pre-made crust from Papa Murphys and make it that way. If we do PMs we grill the pizza and it tastes great.
