We try to limit going out to eat. My wife and I have a Wednesday "date" at Chick-Fil-A before church and then we usually go out once over the weekend. My guess is that we spend ~$175/month at restaurants.

You go to church on Wednesday?

Whassamadda? Can't get enuf GAWD on Sunday? 😛

my wife and i went to Applebee's last night

we spent $29.57 including a $5 tip (only had waters)

i had a Quesadilla burger and onion rings, she had a wrap of some sort with fries

everything was delicious. i love the Quesadilla burger, it was my first time trying it.

How many people is that? We're currently renovating our kitchen (therefore no cooking), and we don't even spend that much on dining out (really takeout mostly). But it's just two of us.

6 total. 3 adults and 3 children.

There's your problem ... too many mouths to feed when dining out 🙂

So we're going through or monthly budget and it looks like we spent $612 last month dining out.. I know we go out more than the average joe but wft! That was my rent less than 6 years ago. Looking back I think it's about an average month for us.

This normal for anyone else? I hope not. This has got to end. And beleive it or not my entire family is very healthy and perfectly fit.

Up until last year that was normal for my wife and I. We rarely cooked at home and ate out pretty much every meal.

Wife and I probably average 200-300/month. But we're cutting that way back to $75 a month. It's just silly to waste that much money when neither of us are maxing out our retirement plans yet.

Just added up my families expenses...$520 for eating out last month. 3 Kids. The bad part is we are geting to the point where the two oldest cannot order off the kids menu anymore.

What if you don't make it to retirement?

Seriously, enjoy yourself a little. What do older folks always tell you? They wish they were your age again. Think about it.

My SO and I spend about $600 a month on dinner, $200 a month on lunches at work, and $100 a month on breakfast, so about $900 for food. (We do almost all the cooking ourselves, but always get very good food, i.e. grass fed filets, wild salmon, lump crab, etc...). Probably another $100 a month on wine/beer, so maybe a total of $1000 a month goes toward food/drink for us.

3/1 to 3/30 (credit only, cash transactions not counted)

Dining Out - $335.68
Groceries - $178.02

This is for myself.

We eat out once or twice a month or so at a cost of $35 including tip. Grocery bill $200/month. This is for 2 adults. Our 8 month old son is still on the boob.

How do you like grass fed beef? I've only had it once and thought it had a pretty distinct flavor, was very lean, but I liked it.

I keep meaning to get some and make it at home, but it's always next to the dry-aged meat at Whole Foods, and I always end up with that instead. That is, when I decide I can spend at WF. If not, Safeway for this guy. Nothing grass fed there, except maybe the mice.
