Hello all. This looks like a great site.

I'm building a new gaming system (DOOM3 influenced) and the ASUS P4C800-E DELUXE mobo I might get states RAM support is "4x DIMM Dual Channel DDR400/333/266 Max 4GB(PAT)". What I don't understand is if I want 1 Gig RAM, will 1 "184 pin PC-3200 ECC Registered module" work or do I need to get 2 x 512MB modules? I'm not sure what the "Dual Channel DDR400" means. Thanks.

You should get 2 preferably identical sticks and put them in the blue slots. Then, they will be in dual channel, which gives you better performance than single-channel. If you want a total of 1GB, you should get 2 512MB sticks.

Also, if you think you may be overclocking some time in the future or right away, you may want to get PC4000 or something that can handle higher FSB at 1:1 ratio. Otherwise, you will be limited to using 5:4 (CPU:Mem).

It is fine to use 1gb ram module.

Seriously, when you are having buffered ecc ram, there is little use of overcloking.

Well quite obviously, if you got TWO channels to put something on, then ONE single DIMM won't quite do.
