I'm dropping out. I never cared for "mini-teams" and this just solidifies my position. It takes the fun out of individual competition within teams.
 
bluestrobe- You dont have to quit. Youre number 1 on our team, and even if the Rebel Alliance passes you, you'll still be the number 1 individual. If you want to compete within the team, you can simply ignore what the RA is doing.

It's a team effort to move up the stats ladder. I know even if I wasn't crunching with my good friend jim, he still has 9 computers if he ran solo vs my 4.

We aren't trying to take glory man, as an individual, your ranking rocks. We are only trying to boost the TeAm up.

Sorta takes the fun out of helping too when it seems helping hurts.

Don't know if it matters any but my home fleet consist of 18 machines only half of which is running right now due to the temp down here.
We was just trying to help the team out. Would you feel better if we just quit crunching for the dimes team so you could stay #1? OF course TeAm Bnt would also have to quit crunching the dimes project for you to stay #1.
Oh bty we also have around 16 machines on Folding and 40 or so on FaD as well.
Maybe you would prefer we left Anandtech all together to keep it "pure" for you?
 
I don't really see the point in this. No matter how many computers someone has, someone else is going to have access to more networks or systems. "There's always a faster gun". It's nice to win, but its also nice to be part of a bigger group that is winning or giving it a really good run.
As much as we stats-junkies don't want to admit it, isn't the actual purpose for DC the results rather than the stats?
TA is doing awesome right now, I'd hate to see ya go.

Actually, I can relate. I've been chasing the top spot for two months now after starting from the botom, running solo and with only three (now four) slow boxes. Learning the "tricks" of the app was kinda fun, but competing against mini-teams seems kind of antithetic to the spirit of the chase. I dunno. Maybe if I hit #1 I'll phase out too. Unless I don't get it, but it's pretty certain now, although it'll seems a bit of a hollow "victory".

I guess I've been out of DC stuff so long (old RC-5 guy) that I don't know the new paradigms.

Guys I really don't understand. All we are trying to do is help the team and you would think we threw a rattlesnake into the room or something.
Would it make a different if I ask Mike to stop his four machines from crunching Dimes and fired up the other 9 or 10 of my home machines to go with the 8 I already have on this project ? ( All built and paid for by me. All at my home running off of power I pay for to the tune of $350 a month or better)

All I'd prefer is thta people not "band" together". If you have 20 boxes at your disposal, go crazy. But if you and your DC frined have 40 joind, use separate UID's.
