Any good Dimsum place near UCLA. I'm going to be in UCLA this weekend, so I want to get some good dimsum.

I have never heard of Dimsum, but I think California has never had any dim suns, there's a lot of light here.

Hrmm, well thank you, no you didn't inform me so, but I was able to deduce that from your posts.

Yes, the short answer is no

The longer answer is no

Your closest bet for decent dim sum is CBS or NBC in Chinatown.

Your next best bet is Ocean Star in Alhambra

After that, your farthest, but tastiest option, is Sea Harbor in Rosemead

I don't know about UCLA, but there are some good eats over at Monterey Park.

Closest and ONLY place near UCLA is VIP Harbor Seafood on Wilshire near Barrington. It is pretty pricey compared to the Monterey Park restaurants, but it's your only option for closeby:

If you're going to head out to Monterey Park, brave the lines at NBC. I went to Ocean Star and I was SEVERELY disappointed.

you have over 2,000 posts on here and you sound shocked nobody has anything to contribute? lol. I would be shocked if it was the other way around. This isn't the place to go for help.

damn you asked for contributions and I didn't even help, sorry hehe.

can't AGREE anymore.

the one on Wilshire and Barrington is the only thing that's remotely resemble real Chinese food. Again, for the real thing, either goto china town or monterey park.
and yes, Ocean Star is somewhat lackluster. Triumph Palace (the one across from Ocean Star on the corner of Atlantic and Garvey, near the Ranch 99 supermarket) is better, and the one called Elite Restaurant (i kid you not) on Atlantic Blvd south of Garvey is pretty good too.

The Kitchen is pretty good too. My only complaint is parking as it fights with Barcali Restaurant next door

I agree, MP is the way to go for dim sum, good eats plus the price can't be beat. It just depends if you have time to get through LA traffic and drive all the way over there ... it'll prob. take you about 45-60mins from UCLA. Other folks can chime in but when I was there that's about how long it would take. good luck!
