Digsby an APP you need to check out

This is a cool app sort of like trillian on steroids. It handles all the IM clients + twitter,facebook and sms text messenging all in one concise app.

When you install it, the program wants to load other apps but you can decline them and it will just install Digsby.

The program also support multiple Os's like Apple and Linux.

The biggest problem with this app is that you can't have sub-groups...otherwise, it's pretty handy having your chat history available @ any computer
 
BUMP for awesomeness

Been using it for the past two hours, using Yahoo/MSN/Google Talk IM accounts, my Facebook account and five email accounts. Super awesome, streamlined interface, everything where I expect. And the best thing about the client is managing emails. Like everyone else, I often get emails that I either 'Mark as Read' or 'Delete' without opening them (not necessarily spam). The client makes it super easy to do that. Simply hover the respective account, a little drawer pops up on the left, hover over the email, mark it as read/delete/report spam. All without having to access your webmail/email client.

The reason I tried it was because of file transfer issues with Pidgin, hope this one works. 🙂

And it's <35MB on my XP SP3 install.
 
Program is good - like 9 out of 10, installer not. But there is a clean version on download page. Use link at end of the line "Installing to a USB drive or secondary hard drive? Having trouble with the above installer? Click Here."

After installation under help menu click "Support Digsby" - important option is "Help Digsby conduct research" which means program is using cpu while idle, like a folding program. They do not disclose which research exactly but say some might be commercial based, others could be non-profit.

I dont know if they have changed installer since 6-7 months ago - at that time it was way over the top unless you get high on confusing users, if not exploiting those who are not used to such a mess. Some will say to stay away but may be they dont need the functionality of Digsby? 😉

Strange they dont have a donate button on site, may be they hide it!

The small notification windows can be made to stay on screen longer and have more readable lines by following these tips http://forum.digsby.com/viewtopic.php?id=2879 - post 20 in particular. Dont know why that is not in options.

Yesterday I was thinking about gaim or miranda that I installed on old laptop I cant remember which one that allows me to search friends name and it shows of possible screen names?

This can be done in Miranda, dont know about gaim.
