I got the ok to record when I speak next week. Now I need to find a decent but not too expensive voice recorder. From what I have read, I want to avoid the ones that don't record in mp3/wav. I would rather drag and drop than deal with conversion.

Any thoughts?
 
the olympus ones that have slots for SD cards are usually pretty nice, lots of lawyers use them for dictation so they can't be TOO bad. Most have multiple modes, like room recording or just close voice recording

this. you can get a refurb unit for 20 bucks or less, like an old sansa, that should have a mic.

i was surprised by the clarity of the sansa fuze mic. i recorded drunk johncu at the raleigh meet. hes a riot.

hmmm....how far away were you from him? I can't hold it up to my mouth or anything, it will be sitting on the podium.

i think you should take a look at some of the olympus models. some of the models have drag and drop support, works like a usb drive, wma audio which is better than dealing with some proprietary format that requires you using some supplied software *cough*sony*cough*.
 
Ain't nothin wrong with tape. The quality is much better than the cheap digital ones. Only thing is u need a 3.5mm M-M cable to record it to your pc.

How much better would the sound quality be with an olympus over an mp3 player?
