I recorded a lot of footage with a video camera I borrowed and it turns out the next day, the video is all garbled and there are blocky lines going through it and stuttering and all that crap. I import and the video is cut into a hundred different segments and ******!!!

my videos are ruinned!! what causes this and how can I fix this?

Bad tape or tape/transport exposed to high magnetic fields can cause this. Excessive moisture in the machine may cause it although there is a capacitance based humidity sensor that should stop the record/playback and withdrawal the tape from the drum if this is detected.
 
yeah it's miniDV.

can't think of moisture... might be magnetic field... it was near my LCD monitor but that's all I can recall. it was in my pants pocket/desk the whole time other than that
