Digital Video and DVD Creation

I have a Sony High Definition camcorder ordered. I currently have a 2.6 P-4 OCd to 3.26 with a Chaintech 9CJS mobo and a gig (2 X 512) of Mushkin memory. This is a fairly powerful PC but still takes a LONG time to render digital video and create a DVD.

Can anyone make a suggestion on building a new system that will give me a worthwhile improvement in performance without breaking the bank?
