Digital TV Tuner

So now that antenna TV is gone I need to get a digital TV tuner. I really dont know what difference there could be between em, since its new to me, but I also dont want to buy a cheap one that ends up having problems. So what should I look for when I get one?

There is really not much difference between them all as far as tuner quality goes.

The various extra features vary. It comes down to what you find important.

Program guide: Current / Now vs 1 day vs more
Universal remote compatibility
etc.
 
lol my bad yeah I meant analog. I forgot that even with cable you need a box now.

Well after reading reviews, it seems every tuner available in retail stores has a bunch of problems, from crappy remotes, bad sound quality, loudness/heating problems, etc, or just plain breaking down

Every product has problems if you read the internet enough. And the transition does not affect cable products...they can continue to use analog if they like.

Just get a Zenith converter box and be happy.
 
Yeah thats true, but they just have way more bad reviews than they should (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...abbed-customerreviews). I dont watch TV anyway. After the NBA finals are over I cant even think of anything I'll watch. When I'm bored I just play video games.

Are you sure about cable? I'm not talking about the 500 channels, they already have a box, but I was told if you have 80 you need one, otherwise you'll only get the basic 30. This is Comcast Im talking about.
 
The mandate affects broadcast signals over the airwaves. It has absolutely nothing to do with the cable companies own copper lines. What they do there is their own choice.
 
Oh ok yeah thanks for clearing that up. Comcast happened to make some change at the same time too, thats why there was so many people there and so many people getting a converter box around the same time. I didnt really know anything about it, but the person who keeps telling me about it got it all mixed up so I did too lol.
 
The cable companies don't _have_ to move off analog, but they sure have compelling financial reasons to do so. I would not bet on analog cable lasting much past 2010 or 2011, at most.
