Digital Signature for Documents

How does one create a legal digital signature for the signing of documents such as PDF's.

Does one need to file the signature with an agency or something to make it legal?

Any info would be great.

I too am on a search for this as well. I will post if I run across some answers.

In the past I have just used cut and paste of "paint" with my signature, although not "verified" for documents like Excel, etc..

Not always. Many MANY require original signature and/or a digitize version of the person's sig.
/s/ is usually used for the duplicate copies that go to the defendant, plaintiff etc. The court original almost always requires some sort of signature.

As for the OP, there no "legalizing" it.
If you want a digital signature you can just sign a piece of paper, scan it take a pic of it and crop out your signature portion. Then apply that jpg in the signature field.

There are companies that will turn your signature into an actual TTF font for ~$100.
