can anyone recommend a program that i can download that i can decrease the size of the photo to about standard size without sacrificing quality. the program i currently have seems to make edges jagged as i downsize them. thanks

You're going to lose quality, the smaller the image the fewer pixels you have to work with.

Fact of life.

However, you'll get much better results with a program like PhotoShop vs Paint.

so would it be better to take the picture in the smallest size the camera allows to begin with if i want small pics???

no, you can do an Image resize in photoshop that will keep your images looking good. Image - size - enter new dimensions.

Trulfe,

Try this program: PictureTray . It will do exactly what you want and it's free!

Take your photos at the best resolution you can, this program has several different algorithms for resizing them without inducing jaggies. Dig around, there are plenty of options. Remember, once you resize, don't try to enlarge ...you'll certainly get jaggies at that point.

It's a great program.
