Digital Cameras

Hi,

Considering a decent digital camera for my birthday in a few weeks. I have a maximum of £300 ($420) to spend.

The media cost also has to come into it. I'm not keen on getting a Sony camera which requires proprietary memory sticks which costs a fortune, I'd rather stick with cameras which use generic media such as SmartMedia.

I think the Fuji FinePix 2600 fits my requirements perfectly (it costs £250 over here).

Any feedback/advice?

canon powershot S110 for $400 for a 2.1megamixel cam is very good over here. the form is nice too since its small and compact. i dont know anything about the fuji cam u said.

I suggest get a good 2.1 mega pixel camera with a good optical zoom (8x or higher). Unless you're a professional photographer, you won't notice alot more with more than 2.1.

Get a Casion QV-2900UX. Read the review here.

2.1MP
8X Optical
CF I/II, Microdrive
1.8" LCD
USB
Movie (No Sound though)

It's within your budget too 🙂

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

dionx: I live in the UK, looked around a few places on the web which deliver to the UK but no one stocks the Canon Powershot S110.

superlie: The Casio QV-2900UX looks like a nice camera but in the UK it sells for round £385 ($560) - over budget I'm afraid 🙁

Any other suggestions?

Hello,

I have used a Fuji Finepix 2400 for a while and have been pleased with its performance and it has excellent picture quality. The Fuji you mentioned would be a good choice IMO.

My 2¢,
