I am looking for some general information on digital cameras. I just want a camera to take pictures when i go on vacation, something easy to use and takes good pictures. Ive tried to do a bit of research but i dont really know what to look for.

i did search, there was 4 articles. only comparing different types of cameras, nothing informational.

Consumers Reports latest edition, Nov 05, arrived in yesterday's mail and has a whole section of ratings on digital cameras. You can probably read the review at your local library.
 
Well, I have a Canon Powershot S2 IS.... it's 5MP. I'm happy with it so far. I've had some out of focus pictures due to the 'autofocus' changing at the last second, but that's probably just the guy behind the camera. It has a 12x zoom which comes in handy...but it's not a pocket camera so you look like a dork with a camera hanging around your neck.
 
For image quality I really like Canon. I never pay much attention to MP since I rarely print, and even a 3.2 will do a nice job for most jobs. Actually, I scale down 99% of all photos to 800x600 because I email them to some friends who still have dial-up.
