Digital cameras: reliable sources

You see "great deals" on lot of sites- but which ones are really reliable?
where did YOU shop and were you treated right with that good price?

I got a great deal on futureshop.com. Though I hate futureshop, the price was nice and they delivered on time so I didn't have any problems.

Be careful of shops with prices that seem too good. You may wind up getting a grey market item or they send you an email requesting you to call them to verify your order. Once they have you on the phone they start to push all kinds of extras, like cases and memory cards, etc.

I wouldn't trust too many sellers on Pricewatch.com. Most of these are selling grey market cameras, and they'll try to tack on a lot of extra "accessories" that would come standard on a retail version of the camera.

Dell.com has often been the best place to get a good deal on digital cameras, particularly when they're running stackable 10 or 15% coupon for Software & Peripherals.

But for everyday good deals and near perfect customer satisfaction, www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com has historically been the site to go to. If you check their reseller ratings, you'll see they have one of the HIGHEST ratings ever - well over the 9.5 range. I've recommended family friends occasioanally to that site, and while they don't always purchase it, it's a super useful site to gauge the lower end of the price range for a camera without fretting about the reliability of the dealer.

Best part about bespriceaudiovideo is that they're based in Ohio, which means no sales tax for CA residents!

Edit: My digital photography class has recommended this site to me for online, extensive courses in digital photography:
www.shortcourses.com. Check it out if you're interested in learning more about photography with your digital camera.

I'd recommend visiting ResellerRatings and checking out any site you find a good deal at. If they have a large number of good ratings over a six month period, they are probably pretty safe.

Staples, Officemax and Office Depot often have coupons on the web where you can save $50. This brings the price down below everything I've seen, save the Dell sales w/stackable coupons.

i got mine at cameraworld.com when they had a 10% off sale. not huge savings, but i got it in 2 days and i knew the service would be excellent.

p.s. there were no better deals at the time.
