Digital Camera?

I'm looking for a pretty cheap, pretty easy to use with pretty good image quality digital camera. it shouldnt be too bulky so i can travel with it but doesnt need to be too small either.

my GF just bought me a Canon digital Elph s110 for $500. Sweet camera... small and takes great pictures. The only thing is that you have to shell out some $$$ for a new compactflash card b/c it comes with only an 8MB card.

Go take a look at DPreview.com. Best digicam review site there is.

Now that the Canon PowerShot G2 has come out, you might be able to find a G1 for about that price. Don't forget the costs of add-ons, though, like larger CompactFlash/SmartMedia/MiniDisk, extra batteries, case, etc. You should go for at least a 3.1mpx camera. Also consider the Nikon 880/885 or the Sony DSC-P5 or S75. Those are all high-end prosumer cameras.

With your budget of $500 you could easily get a 2 megapixel, maybe 3 megapixel digital camera. You'll need the 3 mp if you plan on printing the pictures. If not the a 2 mp should be more than adequate and yes it would be super sharp.

Check out SiPix, the 2100.

It's a 2.3 MP camera for as low as $150.00 on the net and takes pretty great pictures for that price. I can print a 8X10 that looks like a photo from the lab. Not the greatest camera, but has all the features of cameras costing a few hundred dollars in the 2.3 range.

If you can still find a Toshiba PDR-M70, get it. It has the same components (Carl-Zeiss lens, Sony Control) as the Canon G1 that costs hundreds more. The quality of the pictures is comparable to the G1 (it means second to none). I tried both and bought the M70 because of the huge cost advantage. It's the 3.3 Mpixel and it also has all manual functions. Search Google newsgroups and you'll find out the comments of users out there. I took thousands of pictures so far and very happy with it.
