I just sold my 300D after 3 or 4 months, and am looking at acquiring the D70 (cheap) or going all the way for a Finepix S3 or the Nikon variant. Just got a Sony F828 as daily shooter too, dad got envious and sold his G5 and got one too... Sigh that Canon Pro1 looks tempting, I must trade my F828 in for it, and I'll tell my dad to get the Nikon 8700 when it comes out so we can have the best of both worlds...hehe

great list! i think you should add the sony dsc-f717 though. $800 normally, its being clearanced out at circuit city BM for $450 - $485. you can price match this to your local best buy and get 0% financing for 12 months on the camera, which works out to around $40 a month for 12 months after tax =D its 5MP, 5x optical zoom, a bucketload of manual options AND you can add on various lenses. great camera (bought one under the deal i outlined above)
If there is a better 5.0 than the Kodak DX4530, I don't know what it would be.Originally posted by: psxjunky
So which one is generally regarded as the BEST 4.0 or 5.0 MP camera ?
I'd prefer one that takes NiMH AA batteries, but am open to other suggestions as well. If the price is under $500 that'll be great ... but I can go slightly higher if necessary.
Thanks for any inputs !

!
I shopped DX4530 through Pricewatch for the best price.![]()
No doubt you nearly fainted at the "sticker shock" of these two cameras...If you are that impressed with the DX4530, you'd probably faint after using a Sony F717 or a Canon G5.

they are nearly 3x the price of the Kodak.
Having owned the cameras I mentioned, I merely reported on my subjective findings based on a real hands-on experience. No doubt, you also own both the Sony and the Canon (although I can't imagine why you'd have both, as they completely overlap each other) and are reporting your subjective feelings.
Over 40+ years of being more than an amature photographer and having owned the best that money can buy in photographic equipment qualifies my comment that the DX4530 is one of the best that money can buy. $250, that is.
Again, take it for what it is worth...my $.02
