Digital Camera prices rant

GGRRRR. I had an s10 for a little while, returned it cause i felt the 2x optical wasn't enough. Now, here's the rant part, why haven't digital cameras gone down any further? I notice they discontinue the old model, and replace it w/ something new, for the same price..... where's the old model?!! They just replace the bottom line camera w/ something w/ new features.. yes, you get more for what you pay... but i don't need more (well, sometimes).

IE, the canon a50.. the quality from that was excellent (as the s10), if it were like $200.. that would be great (tho, this is kinda a bad example,... cause canon is a b!cth and don't include a recharable battery...)

That's what I did! Definitely worth it.

Kodak DC280 with recharger and batteries was $416 plus shipping for me (buy.com with coupons)

I then picked up a 64MB CF card for it. $146 plus a $4 item, minus $30 for coupon, and $40 rebate on the flash card. Total for the flash card was $76. And it included a USB reader (only works with certain CF cards though, not the 8MB that came with the camera)

With a 28-200 Nikkor Zoom, 200mm Macro, and that damn expensive flash. Not to mention an extra battery. Talk about expensive!
