Digital Camera owners: How much memory do you have/wish you bought?

i'm planning on picking up a kodak dx3900 this weekend....but i'm not sure how much memory i should buy. i'm thinking at least 64mb, but not sure if i should grab the 128mb instead. the difference in price is $60 (canadian).....

i think i'm an average camera user that once in a while will go on trips etc that may require lots of pics...but generally not. think i'll need 64mb? (64 mb = about 65 pics on this cam) or 128mb?

thx in advance

I have one 16mb card that came with my camera and one 32mb card, those combined allow me to take about 150 pictures in this quality.

Well, look at it this way: better to have too much storage than too little, right? You can usually find a 128 stick for roughly $15bucks difference from a 64. I personally bought a smartmedia 128mb card for $45. No complains yet, seeing as how I dont have a camera yet 🙂

Hey, thanks Czar! I was wondering the same thing. Frugality rules!

BTW, what the hell is that, dinosaur dung?

i don't remember how many MP that is, but for a 2MP, 128 should be enough (maybe not in EXTREME best quality..) unless:
1) trip is really long
2) you like to take lots of pictures
3) you have extra batteries that you'll need to actually fill all those megabyte (depending on how much of an LCD hog you are.. i know i am 🙂).

64 seems to work fine for my friend of mine who has an s10, but he's not huge on taking pictures... i tend to keep everything.

lol 🙂
I wish then I'd be famous😀 but sadly its just somesortof a lava rock

bah if only the 128mb card was cheaper. it's $130 canadian here 🙁 if anyone knows of any cheap places (in canada preferably) to grab a compact flash card...please let me know

I have a 64MB MagicGate. That's all I've needed so far.

I have a 256MB CF for my iPaq, but no digital camera to use it on.

Buy your cam and then hit the FS/FT Forum to find better deals than retail on memory cards. Buy a couple of 64 or a 32 and 64 for a decent amount of memory.

I have (2) 64MB modules and an 8MB for a 1.3MP camera. I'll need about that much for our senior trip starting tomarrow. Don't worry, I'll post pics 😉

How much you needs depends on you. How high of quality pics do you take? Are you always around a PC..aka...Do you have a laptop. I like pics, and I like'm HIGH quality. And I dont have a lappy. When I head out for vacation, i find I'll use 128 meg a day. Like at Christmas with the kids...Oh jeezle. I have 2 64 megs and an 8 meg, and I'm looking at getting another 128 meg.....

I have a 1GB Microdrive and a 256MB CF card I use with a 3.1MP Canon S30. I get about 270 pics on the 256 and about 1080 on the 1GB on the large/fine setting. I also have two extra rechargable batteries. I'm loaded for bear 🙂

I've filled the 256 within a couple of days before. I've never reached the end of the 1GB though 🙂

Surprisingly the Microdrive isn't all that bad with the battery, and it's nearly as fast as the CF card. The only thing it slows down powering up the camera and reviewing pictures. It takes about a second longer to power up and reviewing pictures is just barely longer.

I have a 256MB and 128MB CF card for my 4.0 MP Canon S40. The 256MB card can handle about 116 pics or 630 secs of video in high quality mode. I'd like to have gotten a 640MB card but the battery on my camera probably wouldn't last that long. I can fill a 256MB card easily on one charge though.

go with as much as you can afford. it lets you use the highest resolution.. best to have a high quality source image.. u never know when when you'll need it🙂

256MB in my Coolpix 995, only shoot in "fine" mode. It's a hoot to zoom in on some high rez photos & see what you missed when you shot the pictures.

I have a 64MB memory stick for my sony 1.3MP. Allows me to take over a 100 pics on highest quality. Since it's a 1.3 MP, I usually use my old point and click for the good pics and my digital cam for the pics I wanna post on the web. If I had a higher quality camera, I'd get at least a 128MB.

A friend of mine has the big Sony Cybershot.
He has one 128MB, one 64MB, one 32MB and one 8MB sticks.
The best and most used one is the 128MB stick ...
=> get 128MB it also saves you the hassle of replacing sticks (eg. if you have 2x64)

I am sure he would trade in 5x32MB sticks for one 128MB one ....

I have a sony dsc s75 3 mp camera. I have 2-64mb sticks which gives me around 140 pictures at the highest resolution. That is basically enough for me. I never even get that close when i go out to shoot pics. I would definitely go with what you can afford on as high as you can get.
