digital camera help please..

ok i dont know anything about digital cameras. all i do know is that
im on a 200-250 dollar budget. are there good digital cameras for this price range?
thanks.

If you can bump your budget up to $290, Amazon has the great Canon S410 on closeout.

When I was buying a camera for myself earlier this year I did a lot of reading to narrow my choices down to this one and the Canon A80. This S410 is sleek and easy to use, the A80 is bulkier but with more manual features. I ended up getting the A80 but it was a close call.

If not, the Canon SD110 is a very nice little camera too, for $200 at Amazon.

thx for the info guys.
i really dont want to order this camera online.
what about the canon powershot a75. i know its cheap 200 bux, but most
reviews say its a great camera.

According to another "cam" thread, the A85 lacks the moveable LCD of the A80, you have to buy the A95 to get that.

You can't find the A80 because they were on closeout 6 months ago, and stock is all gone.

Canon A75 is a nice camera too.

No its basically an updated A80, probablly as good or better then the A75, plus it has and extra megapixel

The A85 is the updated A75, the A95 is the updated A80.

ok well this is a gift for my dad, so i decided to shell out some extra $$$ and go for the canon A95 for 280.

its 5 megapixel, and has a rotating lcd. is this a good choice? i know this is a dumb question but, the
more megapixels = better camera, right?

If you meant more megapixels in term of higher resolution then yeah but it necessarily make it a better camera. It really depends what you plan to do with the photos. If you plan just to store it on the computer and send it to friends and family, a 3.2mpixles is fine. If you plan to print it on 8.5x11 then you might want to go with 4.1mpixels and above. I was printing some photos from 3.2mpixles on 8.5x11 for a family member and it looked a bit pixelated in some areas.

I know your prolly don't want to keep bumping up the price but.....for $315 (I've seen it as low as $299) you can get the Sony DSC-P100. This is the camera I have and really like it. Mostly because its size (much smaller than the Canon Axx's) and its super quick start up and shot-to-shot. It also takes 640x480 30 fps movie clips which are sweet. I used to have a Canon S400 which was a nice camera, but focus was too slow and the movie mode was weak. However, if you are set on the A85 (or whatever) you really cant go wrong with a Canon, they are all quality cameras.

I trust you've gone to BB or somewhere to try them all out?

I love canon but not the a series. why?

1) bulky feel when holding
2) 4 aa batteries...you will constantly be using new batteries or charging up another 4
3) size...too large you wont take pictures if you dont take the camera out and put it in your pocket.....
