What do you all take pictures of? I have been thinking about buying a high quality digital camera in the near future just for something new to play with, but I am not big on taking pictures, and quite frankly can't imagine what I would want to take pictures of.

So whats the deal anyways? Pics of environment, random crap, what?

Pet pictures, party pictures sometimes, sometimes outdoor stuff...random crap pretty much sums it up, yes :p

Read it backwards from the way you typed it, and something just doesn't add up here.....

Sounds like you're wanting to waste your money.

I'd have to agree that a dSLR wouldn't be ideal for you. Perhaps a point and shoot would be better.

The reason I have my dSLR is because I love photography and really enjoy getting out and taking photos when I can. I love landscape photography and if I could get paid enough money to do that all the time then I'd just travel the US doing that. Not that easy to make money with landscapes though.

I also do weddings on the side of my normal job to make an extra buck.

The whole idea of having a dSLR isn't to get one, set it to the automatic mode and snap away.

I agree that the zoom control on an SLR is far better than a point and shoot, but if you aren't going to actually use the manual focus and things like that - it's really a waste of money.
