Digital Camera - Control Panel Icon ?

Windows XP

I have just installed my Canon PowerShot A40

I am using a USB Port

Everything seems ok except that the Camera Icon in the
Scanners and Cameras Folder in the Control Panel
disappears as soon as I turn off the Camera or disconect
it from the computer

Is this normal? - most Hardware Icons remain permanently
in their Folders

If it is not normal, what might I have done wrong?

Sounds typical, with most any usb device, it disappears when you power down or unplug it

Right! If a USB device is not actually "alive" it doesn't exist in XP. They come and go as needed.
