Digital Camera confusion

I'm going to upgradge my old 2.2 MP Digital Camera to a 5 MP one. I'm thinking about getting the Minolta DiMage 7i.
But I heard that the Canon G2 was an excellent digital camera.
What do you think I should get? The G2 is a 4.2 MP camera.
What do you think i should get? any suggestions?

Yea, that's a big decision. I like my Canon S30 immensely. I would suggest that besides the AT forum you also check this site which covers info specific to your needs. That's where I went when I was making up my mind.

I have a friend who has the Dimage 7 - and it has some good things going for it that the G2 does not - a greater optical zoom.

While you are in that price range - look at the new Nikon 5700 CoolPix. 5 megapixels and 8X optical zoom.

Yes, that nikon camera is getting the most hits of any camera right now at the camera page my link takes you to.

Digital camera is not all about the megapixel though. Although the Minolta has higher megapixel but they sucks. I have the G2 and my friend has the Minolta .. forgot the model but it's a 5.2 megapixel with 7x optical zoom .. but the G2 has so much better quality. 4 megapixel is more than enough for u to make a 8x10 enlargement.

u can check out the previews here.. they have some sample pictures u can look at.

The Canon S40 is a hot little camera that is at the top of my list. I'd be interested in any comments from people who have this camera.

I have the Canon G2 and have had excellent results with it even with 8 x 10 blow-ups. Excellent manual, simple straight forward camera controls and very good battery life even when I use the USB from the camera.

If you're still concerned about battery life get a multi card reader/writer and you're set.

Good Luck!!
