What brand non SLR digital Camera do you own?

Time to buy a new one as my 7 year old Canon SD200 stopped working after my son dropped it last week. Wondering what do ATOTers won?

Canon Powershot, hands down.

BTW, the G11 is amazing for a point and shoot.
My mother-in-law takes shots with it that challenge my DSLR.

ya... I am inclined towards SD1400 IS right now...

G11... expensive and too big carry around in pocket without looking funny 😉

did they improve the flash on the Canons since the SD400? There would always be noise in our pics.

I buy what's cheap :^D I can't take good pictures, so a good camera's a waste. It seems like Canon has a good reputation for point and shoot cameras.

Owned:
Nikon Coolpix 990 - What God intended us to use...in 2000. Very nice camera.
Nikon S4 - Nikon engineers started worshiping Satan and this camera is the result, horrible.

Used extensively at work:
Canon G9 - After he quit Nikon, God went to work for Canon and came up with this camera. If I were to go buy a P&S today, I would buy the Canon G11 w/o hesitation.

Be careful with the lower end cameras, Canon included.
Make sure you check reviews and samples shots.

They use a small sensor and a tiny lens.
This results in over processed images, or the camera using a higher ISO than desired, resulting in grainy images in lower light.

I don't trust the SD1400 lens... it is way too small.

I have the SD960IS. Check out its lens size compared to the SD1400.

Wrong forum nuub.

Also, I fucked up. My Nikon is a SLR. For P&S I should have voted Sony.
Its a DSC-P50. Came out in 2000 and it still takes better pics than most cameras today.

Also, in reference to OP: I highly recommend the Panasonic LX3. Considered to be the best P&S out there today.

I currently own a Canon A85. It is about 6-7 yrs old. The sensor went bad, but Canon fixed it for free 😀. I have the underwater housing for it and it serves as my underwater camera, although I havent used it since 2007 (last trip where I went snorkeling).

Bought my then fiancee, now wife, a Fuji F31fd for her birthday a couple years ago. This the best P&S camera I've seen. The combination of a larger 1/1.6" sensor and Fuji's SuperCCD does wonders for image quality. Auto focusing isnt upto par with the Canons, but I just love the images I can get out of this little thing. My favorite P&S by far. Newer P&S like the LX3 or G11 might be better, but Ive never used them.

Wife bought me a Canon S3IS a while ago. It's quite a versatile camera, and used to be my main vacation camera. Still alive and kicking, although I dont use it much now.

Finally, I got a Canon XSi a last summer. Love this camera! My main camera now, and my lens collection is slowly growing. Currently own a Tamron 17-50, a Sigma 10-20, and a Canon 85mm f/1.8.

I have a Canon SD780IS, and it is been a great point and shoot for the money. Very small, and pretty tough too. I had it in my cargo pocket this last weekend skiing up on Mt. Bachelor, and I had a little accident and tumbled down the mountain for 75 yards or so. Camera survived just fine, though my blackberry did not.

Blackberry RIP

This is not the 1st time my now 20 month old son dropped it, he abused it a lot, it held up for a long time... I let him so that I can buy a new one!!!

My dad's Canon just recently bit the dust. I always thought they were good until I heard that. He never dropped it. 🙁
