I am interested in buying a dig camcorder in the near future. I want to record my entire house and want to know if it is possible to record video directly to a hard drive (streaming) instead of memory cards. I been looking around for info on this but really can't seem to find any. Also if so what software would work to do this.

Seems like what you want is a security system with video. If you want to record your entire house using mini DV is not the way to do it. You need some type of time lapse recorder.

basically i am just wondering if it is possible to actually stream video right to the hard drive vs using a memory card. I know some cams won't even record until it detetcs a mem stick.

Digital Cameras store to a memory card, Digital Camcorders store to a tape (mostly) or mini DVD disc and recently some micro drives and some really poor quality ones to flash memory.

So what do you have? Camera or Camcorder?
