Digital Broadcast in 2009 - I have a question

So broadcast TV in 2009 is switching to digital, we all know that.
IF you have basic cable, with no "converter box" from your cable company, would you still need a converter box once the switch to digital in 2009?

Is the content on the private cable line required to be converted to digital too or just OTA signals?

Cable is not impacted at all by the transition. The FCC mandate applies to OTA transmission only.

However, switching to all digital transmission is in the plans for some cable providers, mainly because it allows them to reclaim extra bandwidth, which they can then open up to other services or more television.
