Can anyone give me a good reason NOT to purchase this Tablet (actually, several) for friends for Christmas? It has decent reviews, mostly. (One 1-star, no 2-star, and about evenly divided between 3/4/5-star.)

I was thinking of getting some Samsung EVO 32GB microSD cards to go with them. BB has then for $24.99, but I think that they were $14.99 earlier this week. Sigh. Amazon has them for $17.51, free shipping for $35, so if I buy two, I'm hoping that I can get BB to PM, since they PM online stores now.

This is my brief review:

Pro: Fast quad core, kit kat 4.4, 1024 x 600, Bluetooth, 8GB expandable to 32GB, H.265 video compatible.

Con: Screen quality, battery life, 512MB ram, camera, speakers.

Booted fast. Imported 1000's of pictures, filmstrip mode is cool. Played videos fine also. The onboard camera is bad for both photos and video in low light. Email, photos and browsing was all fine. The screen quality is low and can't be viewed at certain angles but I adjusted. It's not an IPS screen. Battery life is only 3 hours and charging is kinda slow.

Good gift too give with limitations.

Screen smudges but does comes with a screen protector already on.

Has Bluetooth - this would probably be great for Torque Pro with a cheap $25 Bluetooth OBD-II connector for your car.

The 512MB of RAM on this tablet is proving to be a significant limitation.

Using both "Browser" and "Firefox", I get OOM crashes, with only 1, maybe sometimes 2 tabs, browsing these forums, or Walmart.com or Newegg.com. Also, can't Skype and browse at the same time.

Walmart.com has a Nextbook 7" with 1GB DDR3 and 16GB storage, for $79.99 (currently on sale for $69.99), with the same SoC as this one, although they don't advertise FM radio support. (They do advertise GPS, Wifi, and BT.) It also doesn't have a rear cam, so no photos except for selfies.

Walmart also has an RCA 7", quad-core, 1GB DDR3, and 8GB storage. Currently showing $39.99 on web site, in-store only, but trying to buy it in-store was fruitless, it appears to be the same model as their BF special for $29, and they didn't want to get them out and sell them.
