digi cam

Hey all,

Im thinking of getting a digi cam and i cant decide which to get. I want an slr based cam and it needs to be less than $400. I dont need a high mp cam either. Im not going to print anything over 8x10.

I've been looking at the Fujifilm FinePix S602Z. It has great video recording(640x480 30fps) but not sure about the picture quality.

Another camera i've been looking at is the Canon PowerShot S1 IS.

Just wanted to know what you guys would recommend.

I'm a beginner/ameature.

Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by "SLR based cam" as opposed to just an SLR, but I do know you won't find one for $400 (assuming you're just referring to DSLR's).

With that said, I bought the Canon PowerShot S1 IS about three weeks ago, and it's great. No regrets here at all. The video on that one is great too, and in fact I've got a 5GB microdrive in the camera (although for now there is a 1GB file size limit). If you have any more specific questions about that camera, feel free to ask me here or in a PM.

Those are not DSLR's (dpreview says 'slr-like' for the Fuji, don?t know what that means), especially the Canon, it doesn?t even have a hot shoe.

You?re gona have a hard time finding a true DSLR for 400 bucks.
