So the combination is one, two, three, four, five. That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life. That's the kinda thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

1-2-3-4-5? That's the combination on my luggage!

One of my favorite movies of all time :p

Remind me to change the combination on my luggage.

My only concern is if the intellectual property owners will now back out of hd-dvd in favor of Bluray to protect their content? Releasing that key may ultimately seal HD-DVD's fate.

What's more funny is AnyDvD-HD also "ignores" Blue-ray protection.

Can I get a "pwned" with a captiol "p"?

Not surprising that the Digg community is dumb enough to think this is a "freedom of speech" issue. Exactly what freedom of speech do you have on a privately owned website again? None, you buffoons! Gah.

Hahah, dammit, I've been trying to figure out a way to work that line in but not make it apparent I'm aware that it's from the movie.

Oh well. Keep firing assholes!

True, but hasn't the code been "public" knowledge for quite some time now? There's no point trying to defuse a bomb once it explodes. That may be where the outrage is coming from.

Slysoft had HD and AACS support since 2/15 this year.

so true. i remember the old days in AOL chat rooms in like 1995 and the kids would curse and curse. the AOL guides would run their little macros saying "you violated our terms of service" and these kids would whine and whine about freedom of speech. you have freedom of speech in a public environment, yes, but when your statements are ultimately governed by another authority in a private domain, you ultimately have to follow their rules or accept your fate. you don't have the same freedom of speech there.

it's like cursing in a classroom... can you declare freedom of speech? the likely consequence is detention.

I wonder how long it will take someone to write a 1 line Perl script to decrypt this, like they did for DeCSS encryption on DVD's?

bomb making information is "public knowledge" too.. will digg take it down because of possible terrorist ties? i would imagine so...

experiment with it, i guess.

it's a matter of being pressured by outside legal authorities in the end. digg can certainly let this in as they please, and trust me, a lot of what passed on digg is questionable to me (then again, 94% of digg is female and i'm in the minority), but when they have to answer the call to a higher authority and risk serious lawsuits for promoting these things, they will act accordingly, not necessarily to the satisfaction to the masses.

I stated in another thread on this that the whole thing was just sad. I agree that Digg has the right to decide whether or not they want to follow the request. If they do not go along with it, they can risk having to get involved in an expensive legal proceeding (regardless of whether or not you agree with what's happening, that is what they have to consider facing). At the same time, the structure of their site and content make it very hard to do this, as people have so effectively shown. If people really want to speak out against this, they should do it themselves, like how people have registered domains with the key as the URL. Posting it up constantly on Digg or a private forum puts that private site at risk. If Digg and other private sites do not want to bear that risk, why should people keep pushing it on them when they have the option of taking up the burden?

Digg is a user driven social content website. Ok, so what the heck does that mean? Well, everything on Digg is submitted by our community (that would be you). After you submit content, other people read your submission and Digg what they like best. If your story rocks and receives enough Diggs, it is promoted to the front page for the millions of visitors to see.

Don't make your self the internet soap box and then start crying when used as the internet soap box.

Lost a ton of respect for digg, I think I'll go back to fark. Has nothing to do with the "censorship" it's how stupid this whole debate is and how easily the whole digg system was thrown off because these little kids think it's a free speech. Very sad to see a site die like that because of something so stupid... damn kids... GET OF MY YARD!

lol. even without DIGG it is so easy to find the key these days. a simple google search will easily yield results. i don't know why the companies keep on doing it.

But only recently have Diggers been banned for posting it. That's the cause of the entire raucous.
