Difficult choice ,need advice

I want to make new comp ,I have question :
1. Radeon 8500 or Geforce 3 ?I saw in compared 3dmark 2001 score Geforce 3 has totaly beaten by radeon 8500 in High polygon count with 8 lights (radeon8500 10 Mtriangels /geforce3 4 Mtriangels) but i heard that radeon has bad driver support.
2. What is the mobo ?ABIT or EPOX (I am gonna use athlonXP and I am not overclocker)?
3. What is the best sound card at this time ?
4. Which OS should I use ? can WinXP link to a comp with Win98 installed via LAN ?😕

<< 1. Geforce 3
2. Abit KR7A or Epox 8KHA+ are both good. Epox is cheaper.
3. TB Santa Cruz
4. WinXP

This is exactly what i'm running right now at home... I love it!

if you plan of overclocking at all... go with the Epox. Other than that... no real difference. The Epox board comes in a cool blue box with a rope handle if that helps at all🙂

Ok,..here's the "alternative" selection.
1. Geforce 3
2. MSI K7N420 It's decently fast. It has 24bit, Dolby Digital 5.1 integrated sound, a 10/100 Tx network interface, and it's there if you ever need it, GF2 graphics. Not to mention the best driver team in the world behind it. 🙂 For about $160
3. WinXP

Mine's running flawlessly. And I'm out benching 2 of my friends with 8KHA+'s and Althon XP's. 😉

I have to agree with Scooter. 8KHA+ and KR7A-RAID are great boards, but the K7N420 Pro has better than Audigy and Santa Cruz Audio, LAN, 6USB Ports, and as long as you're not gonna overclock, using an External AGP card is fine. Plus, the K7N420 Pro can be had for $152 at Newegg, which is cheaper than it would be to get a 8KHA+ along with a Santa Cruz. Go get it!

btw,... I know it's not alot, but I can hit 140mhz fsb with perfect stability. And from what I've read the 140mhz OC on the nForce renders more bandwidth than a KT266a at 145mhz. 🙂
