ive heard that Aero isnt included in basic but that seems pretty ridiculous.

what other differnces are there between the 2.

Also wheres the best place to buy the veriosn that comes with aero, if its basic then is the eggs price of 100 dollars a good deal?

Basic does not include Aeros or the Media Center among other things. If you want Aeros but do not need the Business features you should look at Vista Home Premium. The least expensive way to buy it is to get the OEM version which simply put means it is tied to the motherboard you install it on. As far as pricing goes one vendor who I buy software from, Vio Software, has it for $ 103.99 shipped.

Newegg has it for about $ 5.00 more. Some people may have a system with out a robust enough graphics card to push Aeros so Basic has some benefit for them. Get Home Premium, you should be happy with that, I am.

Just an FYI, a video card capable of running Aero can be had in any Radeon 2400/3450 or low end Radeon, ie sub-40 dollar video cards.

Even the Intel GMA945 and the Nvidia 6100 IGPs can run Aero. Basically any dx9 card should be able to run it just fine.
