Different Types of Raptor 74gb?

I heard some stuff about different builds/versions of the Raptor 74gb.
What is the difference and how do I know the difference?
Like i heard a lot of people picky about the manufacturing dates.

Its just new revisions, its the same with any other product, especially computer hardware. certain manufac dates are better than others.

the size is a bit different.

i have one from newegg back in may, mfg date april 2004.
i have a whole bunch of new raptors that came with my dell systems, mfg dates from sep-dec 2004, thats another revision and is a lil bit smaller than the old revision. also these ones do not have the old 4-pin power connector like the old one did

the old+new still work fine in RAID 0/1. the extra 20MB or so in the old revision can't be used since RAID takes the smaller size drive and double it / mirror it

w00t, theres something to write home about, a 20mb difference 🙁

btw the 36.7gb raptors do perform slightly faster than the 74gb raptors.. its just in the nature of hard drives right now. I would explain further, except its midnight and i'm tired.

You must be tired, because you've got those backwards.

what? i could have sworn that... ahh, fsck it. i'm going to bed. The english paper that was keeping me up is finished now, anyway. Although if i am writing this stuff, i'd hate to see what my paper is going to look like in the morning.

It's simple that 74 raptors are faster because they are the 2nd Gen raptors.
It's like 7200.8 are always faster than 7200.7
